Course Description

In 2021/22, ORNI assisted Belfast City Council to establish a project which resulted in the Council and Cavehill Mountainbikers Club (CMC) agreeing a Memorandum of Understanding to pilot the use of a mountain bike trail in Cave Hill Country Park.

‘The Middle’ is a c.600m downhill trail which is managed, inspected and maintained by CMC and has been in operation since Autumn 2022.

ORNI will provide registered delegates with a video presentation in advance of the session which will focus on:

  • Context
  • Overview of Best Practice Learnings from Scotland and Wales
  • Process of establishing the project
  • Current position

This will provide essential background to allow delegates make the most out of the ‘walk & talk’ session in Cave Hill Country Park. This will be led by ORNI with support from both CMC and the Council and will provide the opportunity for Q&A and to view the practicalities first hand.

To ensure high quality engagement with delegates the session will be restricted to 20 people.

Delegates will be provided tea, coffee and buns on arrival.

Please note the ‘walk & talk’ will be a vigorous walk with ascents and descents of trails which are muddy and loose under foot. Please dress appropriately for the prevailing weather and conditions.
