Davagh Forest, Cookstown

Outdoor Recreation NI was involved in the completion of the trail design and getting the project to a stage where it was ready to go out to tender for Contractors. This included development of a concept plan by Dafydd Davis in 2009 and a detailed micro design by Architrail completed in 2011. Cooktown Council appointed FPMcCann to complete the construction of the trail system with work commencing in August 2012.

Outdoor Recreation NI led on the design of waymarking and signage for the trail network as well as production of the official trail cards for the Davagh Forest Trails. In partnership with NITB, Outdoor Recreation NI hosted an industry development seminar for local businesses in the Brougherg Community Centre ahead of the trails launch in Spring 2013.

Davagh Forest Trails is recognised as a National Mountain Bike Trail Centre.
