Barnett Demesne/ Mary Peters Mountain Bike Trails

This capital project is a collaboration between Outdoor Recreation NI and Belfast City Council. The overall aim of the project is to develop a mountain bike trail system in and around Barnett Demesne/ Mary Peters, on land belonging to Belfast City Council. There is a huge demand/ need for this project with over 200 letters/ emails of support received from mountain bikers to date. Outdoor recreation would like to thank all those who have shown their support.
An initial concept design was completed in November 2010 by mountain bike trail designer Phil Saxena of Architrail. The concept recommended the development of a -
1. Green and red grade trail system
2. Blue grade and jump trail system
Both systems will have braided sections of a higher grade to the main trail (i.e. black sections on a red trail etc).
Micro-design for this project is now underway to be completed by end of May 2012
CAAN in partnership with Belfast City Council is currently working to secure the necessary funding to deliver this project.
